*Eligible for 20% Critical Service Bonus allocation beginning June 24, 2022

Job summary:
The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking an Astute Examiner to perform periodic inspections. This position ensures operational, safety, sanitation and nutrition compliance and meal portions for the inmate kitchen and stores.
Job duties:
- Monitors and reviews contractual requirements against actual performance and delivery
- Performs periodic random inspections of the kitchen to ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards
- Observes and inspects inmate store operations
- Prepare weekly meal projections
- Invoice reviews and analyzes
- Acts as a liaison between the Food Services Contractor, Inmate Stores Contractor and ADCRR Management
- Responds to and initiates appropriate correspondence and documentation
- Compile and complete reports of inspection results
- Maintains performance records
- Issues medical and religious diet cards to inmates
- Driven for state business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the mission
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA):
Knowledge of the following: – American Correctional Association standards for food service operations – Food volume preparation and delivery systems – Nutrition, nutritional values and special diets – Health, safety and sanitation codes for food and store storage and handling – Auditing and statistical sampling techniques – ADCRR policies and procedures – Use of personal computers and associated software
Skills in: – Analyzing situations accurately and taking appropriate action – Organization, time management, multitasking and adapting to changing priorities – Software functions/data processing – Operation of office equipment – Effective written and verbal communication
Ability to: – Interact professionally and build cooperative relationships with all levels of service and outsiders – Monitor and evaluate food service activities – Adapt to changing situations and priorities – Maintain records – Learn and respect the policies and procedures of the service relating to security, prisoners, shops and catering – Work in a prison environment
Selective preference(s):
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a food service, warehousing and/or distribution type environment
Pre-employment requirements:
Food handler license valid at time of appointment.
Requires possession and ability to maintain a valid, state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive for the state are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10 -207.12). Employment is dependent on the selected candidate passing a background investigation, drug test, and medical/physical examination.
